Frequently Asked Questions

Chai is virtually the mainstay of Indian culture. Even when fresh cold drinking water cannot be found, you will inevitably encounter a chai wallah, or chai vendor, yelling "Chayee! Chayee!"

Chai Tea is properly known as Masala Chai

2) What is Masala Chai?

In India, Chai means Tea and the word masala defines a combination of herbs and spices; which typically includes green cardamom, cloves, ginger & cinnamon.

Therefore, we can simply say that Masala Chai is a combination of black tea and spices.

6) What are the spices in Chai tea?

Spices in Chai tea may vary depending on the preferences of the blender. Our basic recipe follows the way Chai is drank in the foothils of the himalayas. It contains green cardammon, ginger, cinnamon and cloves with no black pepper or nutmeg.

7) Are Yogic Chai Blends Vegan; meaning dairy free?

Yes, Yogic Chai blends are all vegan. We use no syrups, no concentrates, no sugars and no dairy.

8) Do Yogic Chai blends have caffeine?

Most of them do, since most of them are made with Black Tea as the tea base, but we also offer a Decaf blend made with Rooibos.

It is important to mention that Black Tea contains about 1/3rd the amount of caffeine of a cup of coffee and caffeine from tea is also absorbed much slower in the body than coffee.

If you are sensitive to caffeine, as well as our Decaf blend, we have two other blends that have very little caffeine. "Kuki Chai Masala" is made with Kukicha Tea as base. Kukicha is known to be the least caffeinated of all teas from the Camellia Sinensis plant. "White Masala Chai" is made with White tea which is also known to be very low in caffeine.
